Representatives of the Russian Federation and the UN discussed issues of stability in Central Asia in Ashgabat

Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry Kirill Logvinov held consultations in Ashgabat with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia, head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Kakha Imnadze. This was reported on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues on the regional agenda that fall within the mandate of the Centre. In particular, they discussed the fight against terrorism and extremism, anti-drug cooperation, transboundary water use and youth issues.

The Russian side expressed support for the activities of UNRCCA and noted its important role in promoting stability and security in the Central Asian region. The participants in the talks emphasized the importance of continuing the Center's interaction with regional organizations - the CIS, CSTO and SCO.
