Deputy Chairman of the Turkmendenizderyayollary Agency Seyitguly Baiseidov, during the Investor Forum held on Tuesday in Brussels, noted the strategic role of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport as a key maritime hub for Central Asia, providing connections between Europe and the region, representatives of the online publication “Business Turkmenistan” reported. , present at the forum.

The international transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) has significantly boosted the maritime transport sector of Turkmenistan. With the development of TRACECA, the Turkmenbashi International Seaport has acquired new opportunities and attractiveness, contributing to economic growth and increasing trade efficiency, Bayseidov added.

During the conference, the deputy chairman emphasized that the Turkmenbashi International Seaport has the most modern infrastructure, in which the state has invested 1.5 billion US dollars. Equipped with modern terminals, the seaport can handle 17 million tons of cargo, providing efficient cargo handling and logistics services through terminals such as general cargo terminal, liquid cargo terminal, container terminal, Ro-Ro, passenger terminal, and polypropylene terminal and other chemical substances.

Seyitguly Baiseidov spoke about plans for the construction of various types of ships, including dry cargo ships and universal ferries, specialized for the transportation of rail and road transport. This year, a decision was made to build five vessels of various types, including three general cargo ships and two Ro-Ro vessels.

Concluding his speech, the deputy chairman emphasized that the Turkmendenizderyayollary Agency and the Turkmenbashi International Seaport are open to partnerships that contribute to the economic prosperity of the entire region. They are inviting investors to take part in transforming the seaport into a regional trade hub, offering numerous opportunities for investment in shipbuilding and infrastructure.
