Free computer literacy courses have been opened for retired citizens in Turkmenistan
The Innovation Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan opened free digital literacy training for citizens of retirement age. "Turkmenistan: Altyn asyr" internet publication informs that the first group of 20 people has successfully completed the month-long course and received state certificates.
According to Serdar Yagsheev, the chief expert of the center, classes are held every day and last 54 hours in total according to the "Innovation Computer Technologies" program. Now another group of 30 people has been formed.
In the elementary course, students learn the basics of working with a computer—opening it, saving files, and working with a keyboard and printer. Retired citizens have also mastered using browsers, registering e-mail, and accessing the Internet.
According to the experts of the center, computer literacy is very necessary these days, it allows to solve daily tasks effectively, pay for online services, and communicate with loved ones. Also, by learning computers, seniors can spend their free time doing useful things like reading books and watching movies.
These courses are organized within the framework of the implementation of the state program for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan.
Retired citizens must provide their passport, pension certificate, and a photo for documentation to participate in these courses.
