A meeting was held within the framework of the ESCAP session on the resolution of Turkmenistan
Recently in Bangkok, within the framework of the 80th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), a side event was held on the Resolution of Turkmenistan “Consideration of the conditions for the creation of a UN Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin”.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the event was attended by the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Executive Secretary of ESCAP Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, the delegation of Turkmenistan led by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, representatives of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in ESCAP, as well as leading experts of the Commission.
During the meeting, the delegation of Turkmenistan made a presentation on the problems of the Aral Sea and the targeted work being carried out in Turkmenistan at the state level to mitigate the consequences of the Aral crisis, including within the framework of the Action Program to assist the countries of the Aral Basin, the source notes.
