Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan discussed prospects for cooperation in the gas industry
As part of his visit to the Turkmen capital, the Chairman of the Board of the Kazakhstan JSC NC QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov held meetings with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov and the Chairman of the State Concern Turkmengas Maksat Babayev.
According to QazaqGaz, during the negotiations the parties discussed plans to expand fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the gas industry.
In particular, mutual interest was noted in the joint implementation of gas pipeline projects in the territories of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, as well as in the supply of natural gas on a mutually beneficial basis.
The parties emphasized the importance of expanding the strategic partnership in the gas sector. Following the meetings, readiness for further cooperation in this direction was expressed.
Turkmenistan is one of the leading producers and exporters of natural gas in the region. In turn, Kazakhstan is interested in diversifying the supply of this valuable energy resource.
It is expected that the intensification of Kazakh-Turkmen cooperation in the gas sector will give new impetus to bilateral relations and will help ensure energy security in Central Asia.
