Permanent representatives of the countries of Central Asia in Geneva met with the special representative of the UN Secretary General
A meeting of the permanent representatives of all five Central Asian countries with the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Kakha Imnadze, took place in Geneva on Tuesday, March 5.
This is the first meeting of this format and it was held in the building of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva.
The timeliness and importance of establishing political and diplomatic contacts through the UNRCCA-Geneva platform, which will help increase the Center’s capacity in working on the international agenda in the Central Asian region, was noted.
During the meeting, Kakha Imnadze introduced the heads of Central Asian diplomatic missions accredited in Geneva to the tasks and current activities of the Regional Center with headquarters in Ashgabat. The talk, in particular, was about helping to strengthen stability and security in the region, countering terrorism and violent extremism. Among the Center's priorities are transboundary water resources management, youth, gender equality and other areas.
