How the new Dusse-Alinsky tunnel was built at BAM
In the Khabarovsk Territory, the eastern and western parts of the new Dusse-Alinsky railway tunnel were connected. The previous one was in use for more than 40 years, and it has long been in need of reconstruction. Now the capacity of the BAM will significantly increase, and it will be possible to transport cargo of any size, reports MIR 24 correspondent Andrey Eganov.
The new tunnel is almost two thousand kilometers long. Through it, trains will be able to easily and much faster reach Far Eastern ports. Freight turnover will increase by a third.
This year marks the half-century anniversary of BAM. Its modernization is one of the main tasks of recent years. The investment program for the construction of a new tunnel required 9 billion 600 million rubles. It is interesting that the first Dusse-Alinsky tunnel began to be built back in 1939, and was put into operation more than 40 years later.
