Representatives of the Turkmendenizderyayollary agency visited the port of Valencia
A delegation from the Turkmendenizderyayollary agency (Sea and River Routes of Turkmenistan) visited the seaport of Valencia in Spain on January 14-15. The trip was undertaken as part of an OSCE project to promote “green” ports on the Caspian Sea, according to the department’s website.
During the visit, representatives of the Turkmenistan Waterways Agency got acquainted with the activities of the port of Valencia to reduce CO2 emissions and switch to bioenergy, and other experimental projects, including the use of tractors and reachstackers (loaders for handling containers) with a hydrogen engine. There was also an exchange of experience on issues related to port management, digitalization of port operations and the application of sustainable development principles.
A key goal of the OSCE Green Ports Project is to consolidate efforts to transform the Caspian Sea into a logistics hub by facilitating trade and shipping.
The Port of Valencia is the fifth busiest seaport in Europe. It ranks first in Spain and second in the Mediterranean basin for container traffic.
