Turkmenistan will create an autonomous National Digital Network

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution, according to which a working commission will be created to develop a Concept for the formation of a National Digital Network not connected to the Internet, the Watan information program of the Turkmen television reported.

“In order to create in Turkmenistan an autonomous National digital network not connected to the Internet, as well as to take measures related to these works on a systematic basis, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree, in accordance with which a working commission was created to develop the Concept for the formation of the National Digital Network and implementation of the project to create the National Digital Network and approved its composition,” the message says.

The proposal to create an autonomous digital network to expand and unify the electronic communications system of Turkmenistan was earlier made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Rashid Meredov. He also recalled that the Digital Diplomacy Department operates in the structure of the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among its main tasks is to convey to the world community the priorities of foreign policy and international initiatives of neutral Turkmenistan through digital media resources.
